BIBLE 101
"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
Although a living faith in service of a Living God, Christianity is predicated upon the texts we collectively refer to as the "Bible." Being able to successfully navigate the scriptures is what forms the foundation for our shared faith. As such, any sound bible study begins with an appreciation for what the bible actually is.

First of all, the book that we refer to as the "Bible" can more accurately be thought of as a vast library. Its contained writings span multiple literary genres and include more than 1,500 years' worth of history, poetry, philosophy and even church instruction.
Secondly, it was penned by nearly 40 different authors of varying literacies and styles, and each was communicating to wildly different times and audiences.
Thirdly, unlike other "books," the bible does not always adhere to a chronologically. Although there is a broader story and even an defined beginning and end,

THE SEVEN C's OF SCRIPTURE
Because of this, we have done our best to condense the biblical narrative into a story that makes sense of the the world around us and the specific role we play in it, with regards to God's perspective. The story is framed by the Seven C's of Scripture - 7 words, each beginning with the letter 'C,' which describe the core message of the bible from beginning to end.

Though not exhaustive, I believe that this tool will greatly assist the new believer in understand what God's ultimate plan for humanity is, and where he or she fits into it all.
